Blizzard Bonanza

What do you do when you're stuck in a hotel in Abu Dhabi as a result of missing a connecting flight due to a snow storm in London causing a 36 hour-long delay?

Go for a swim.

Triolet

As I listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Picturing quagmire forming on the watered ground
I write this piece with unfathomable constrain
As I listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
I scroll down to Mon Coeur, reminded of the recent pain
O how I long to have it buried; burned, drowned
As I listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Picturing quagmire forming on the watered ground

Mon Cœur Qui Bat

No hearts would beat if they cannot cry,
irrespective of age, gender and pride;
And so I hide behind a mask of butterflies,
While praying for the pain to subside.

Dog days

Please excuse my short words and brief thoughts,
Unbeknown to many, I have work to slave over;
Absurd things happened, leaving me nothing
But to pluck faith and hope from a four leaf clover.

Counterculture

I've written poems about many things,
swim trainings,over-sized loafers, even a tween idol's purity ring.
But to dedicate a post to counterculture- definitely a first,
Nothing but a feeble attempt to quench my sudden indie thirst.
-Tim-

Having 'Telephone' as one of your most-played songs on iTunes is not something to be proud of. Here are a few less mainstream numbers in my library that lay hidden under that massive pile of pop junk, as some would like to call it.

The Decemberists- Here I dreamt I was an architect

"But you, my spoiled teenage girlfriend, how you are furrowed like a lioness..."

Fleet Foxes-White winter hymnal

Death Cab for Cutie- I will follow you into the dark

...from Bangkok to Calgary, and the soles of your shoes are all worn down...

Yuketen footwear.

The inner urge guides me towards light,
Yet again darkness falls, ever so easily.
Even as I sit here writing in this cold winter's night,
I ask for forgiveness and direction, O Lord Deity.

Le pido perdón?

Imagine the world as a Spanish restaurant,
where career options are tapas of every kind,

where a jug of sangria takes you straight from HK to Belmont,

would your outlook in life be newly-defined?

Had spanish food yesterday ( thus explaining the sudden urge to mention all things paella and chorizo-related). Funny thing is, the highlight of dinner was actually the non-spanish desserts.

Zoe Renault

I wish there was a movie called Fraught,
about how distressed uni. students live and grow.
How they would change their inner thoughts,
until they themselves know.

Browsing through yahoo's entertainment section at 12am and making fun of the media's increasingly direful use of portmanteaux to refer to their favourite celebrity couples is not the best way to chill out. Ah, the life of a second year law student. Now you know what most of us (maybe it's just me) do when we're not killing ourselves reading jurisprudence. Which reminds me, do remember to read up on Perry's article on Hart's theory after Tara Wolfe's brief but poor explanation yesterday.
Interesting news: Renault can name a new car model Zoe, after the French court threw out a case brought by the parents of two girls called Zoe Renault. It was held that there was no evidence that it would cause the children "certain, direct and current harm". 重點:the parents intend to appeal, with the view that their poor little girls could " face a lifetime of mockery for sharing the name of a car". Valid point? I have my doubts. The courts should just send them to Taiwan and have them meet all these girls who're named after crustaceans and fruits. That'll give them something to think about.

Gym tomorrow, then off to the library. Parfaite. Tout simplement parfait.

Hype Beast

Hey all,

Apologies for the 3 month hiatus, have been busy lately(mostly work and vac scheme applications related). A close friend introduced a website over dinner today and to all you street-wear fanatics out there, this is the place to go to when you don't have a life. Not that I'm a huge fan of hipster junk, but you'd be surprised to find the amount of wearable trash/interesting food blogs there (I, for one am impressed).ideal casing when I do get an iphone

I've been out-of-touch w/ the billboard top 40, but here's a song that is stuck in my head. sorry if I'm a year or two late...there's no way one can keep up with 14 y. o. Bieber fans w/ their perpetually-vibrating Bold 9780's.

back on track

Hello all. It's been a while since I last posted an update. I'm glad to say that I have finally got my blogging mode back on and just to tell you guys this: I'm here to stay. Let me start off with a short one this time round.

It's been 12 days since coming back to Sunny Sabah and apart from the usual gym and swim sessions, I have been busy prepping up for my law conversion exams (first paper in a weeks' time). Truth be told, I have no interest whatsoever in Hong Kong's constitutional law, but when one has no other alternative, so be it. I'm sure a couple of you will be relieved to hear that I haven't been drinking much this past couple of weeks (*ahem, you know who you are), partly due to the fact that I'm revising and also because I am buffing up to take on 蘭桂坊's bitter and relentless onslaught that is to come.

One thing to look forward to: Family trip to Shanghai in early July. It's been two years since the 4 of us traveled together, can't wait!

HK in a weeks' time. Wish me luck.

Tim

p.s. Remember to tell yourself this: work hard, party hard.

Roman Holiday

他們的生活方式的確係好唔同,laid-back, as I would put it。

Italy has so much to offer. The Systine Chapel, St. Marks Square, the Vatican City, the world-reknowned statue of David, the birth of Venus, the list goes on. It is a country of beauty, art, history and tradition. I know I don't say this often and it probably sounds really cliche but this is truly a "words can't describe what it's like unless you're there in person" kind of moment. The lifestyle, the trendy clothes, the coffee places by the street. The people-watching, the hand gestures and the bars that sell not alcohol but ice-cream and crepes.

They say when you're at the Trevi Fountain and you turn around, toss a coin over your head and into its waters, you promise Rome that you would one day return to her. This I did, not once, not twice but three times, so listen up. It doesn't matter if its 10, 20 or even 30 years from now, rain or shine, hotshot solicitor or homeless wreck, just give me a ring. I'm always up for another Roman Holiday.

ciao

Tim

Owl City's Maybe I'm dreaming offers the best dose of off-beat, start-of-the-day music to post-course work mornings(complete with electric keyboards) besides serving as an antidote to the nauseating aftereffects of over-exposure to auto-tuned, baby-making numbers...one can only take the line "shorty's like a melody..." so many times.

Apart from deciding on next year's accommodation, completing my spring internship application and preparing for next week's tutorials, the rest of the week's pretty much free. London this weekend to meet up with cousin Lan.

Noon. First property-viewing session commences in an hours' time. Here's to the next two months of coursework-free days. Cheers.
